Nice seeing that you are still writing. Is very hard to keep a blog these days. For me is hard to follow blogs imagine writing. Wow, also very interesting what you say about the different ways of time measurement. People are very inventive all over the world.
I am in North Carolina lately, enjoying my first Thanksgiving on American soil. It is pretty nice around here. The weather is great, with an amazing fall. I can still go outside wearing just a t-shirt. Btw, how is the weather in Kenya? Keep doing the good job.

Well this sure is interesting. I always feel bad that I know so little about Africa, but it seems your blog is sort of a modern and live wikipedia, with cute facts!

Soooooo glad you're alive and kicking! Heard about just one attack, but saw you had posted something on fb afterwards, so didn't panick. But TWO attacks is kind of creepy - so yeah, as the very wise Marcelle says, pleeeeeeeeeeeease be careful!!!

I have been wondering about those bad images received from The Hague as well. Greetings from Tunis, where there is a lot of action since the media are free to comment on the government. I stead of 2 papers there are now more than 20

Nothing is easier than banking. Why not transfer the money for the 6 months rent from your Dutch account to the BOA bank and do your monthly payments via banking. Much safer than walking around with wads of money! It will only cost you bank fees once!!!

Ik heb afgelopen jaar een keer in een Ethiopisch restaurant in Amsterdam gegeten: Een grote pannekoek met verschillende kleine hoeveelheden vleesgrechten op de pannekoek. Ik vond het vreselijk zuur en niet lekker.
Ja, dat was zeker injera! Dat heb ik een keer gegeten bij een vriendin uit Eritrea. In combinatie met een heel erg hete stoofpot (met vlees), pffff, maar het was wel lekker!
Ha ha ha dat is "injeera en wat", best lekker hoor!
Je moet zeker naar Ethiopie gaan als je de kans krijgt. Ook een zeer boeiend land!

My dear mr Smirnov, the question you ask is impossible to answer. If you go to the slumbs, people will see a mzungu as a walking wallet, ripe for the plucking. The political class will see whites as the exponents of colonialism that can be used as ideal scapegoats. As for the rest, I don't think people have any particular feeling against whites. Don't forget that there is actually a native white Kenyan population.There is some discrimination, but no persecution or anything of the kind.
Kenya might not be altogether European but it seems to be (according to this blog) thoroughly British. For one it is member of the Commonwealth still to this day. But do tell me: how would a) an average person in Nairobi or b) an average person in the countryside see the old people see their old colonial masters overseas? I reckon there are still quite a few Britons walking about there, down under..

Hoi Daan, klinkt erg goed , naar zo'n park toe gaan lijkt me een geweldige ervaring. Zelf ben ik ook in de jungle geweest van Maleisie. Ik heb daar apen gezien maar niet de beloofde tijgers en panthers. Wel een aantal Orang Malu, oorspronkelijke bewoners van Maleisie die apen doden en op eten en alles van de jungle gebruiken voor hun dagelijkse levensbehoeften. Zelf ee paar flinke jungle klimpartijen achter de rug en nu weer met herfstweer in het koude kikkerlandje beland. Ben benieuwd naar je verdere avonturen, klinkt nu al goed. Gr

Het weer is hier helemaal prima, ongeveer 20 graden met niet al te veel zon. Prima werkweer dus.

Leuk dat je nog even naar Nutzi bent gegaan. Vonden ze het leuk dat je ineens voor hun neus stond en heb je nog de groeten van mij en Ben gedaan? Dat meisje zal intussen wel een hele dame zijn geworden. Hebben ze de bovenverdieping alweer verhuurd? En hoe was ons parkje? Ben jaloers! Fijn dat je het en VT ook weer naar je zin hebt. Ik denk dat je maar niet moet vergelijken met de 1e keer. Het zal toch altijd anders zijn, maar wellicht ook net zo leuk of misschien wel leuker. Kijk uit naar je verhalen en belevenissen.

Daan, leuk stuk! Ik heb hele leuke herinneringen aan mijn eerste bezoek aan Boekarest. Helemaal omdat het mijn eerste buitenlandse bezoek was aan jou! (Er volgden daarop gelukkig meer bezoeken!)
